Itineraries
Day 1: Arrival
Pick you from your Hotel in Arusha, drive to the Lark Plains North of Arusha, rest of the day birding. Night in Arusha booked by &beyond Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Post breakfast you will drive to the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, the Tarangire National Park. It is renowned for the magnificent baobab trees that cover the semi-arid landscape. The park draws its name from the perennial Tarangire River that rises from the central Tanzania highlands and traverses through park providing succor to the large herds of elephants during the dry season through its shrunken – but permanent – brackish waters. Dinner at Overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park to Lake Manyara National Park
The next morning you will head to Lake Manyara, the site of your picnic lunch. The picturesque Lake Manyara lies in a depressed valley with the brown and red cliffs of the escarpment rising strikingly on one side; with springs originating from the base of the escarpment acting as a source of water. You will game drive en route to your lodge. Overnight with dinner at Kirurumu Tented Lodge.
Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park to Serengeti National Park
The Gorge was discovered accidentally by a German butterfly collector, Professor Kattwinkle, in 1911, but it came into prominence only after the unearthing of a Zinj skull, believed to be 1.8 million years old by Dr. Mary Leakey in 1959. After your educational evolutionary round up of the gorge, you will retire to your camp for a while before heading out for an afternoon of game viewing.
Day 5: Full day at Serengeti National Park
Another wonderful aspect of private tented camping is the ability to fix your own schedule. Today, you might want to relax in camp for a while before heading out on a game drive. Stay at Savannah Luxury Mobile Camp where you will take overnight with dinner.
Day 6: Serengeti National Park to Arusha
Today you will head to the site of one of archaeology’s most significant discoveries, the Olduvai Gorge, where Mary and Louis Leakey after spending 28 years of hard excavation unearthed the partial skull of “Nutcracker Man”, dating back 1.75 million years. Drive to Arusha this morning where you will arrive for lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure and optional shopping before proceeding to Kilimanjaro for day use room at Kia lodge for a day room before take your flight back home.
